BlephEx® for Blepharitis Treatment

Infinity Eye Care offers BlephEx®, the first and only eyelid-cleaning procedure to help maintain clean and healthy lids to patients in Indianapolis.

What is Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a common, uncomfortable eye condition that can cause your eyelids to become red, swollen, irritated, and itchy. It can cause crusty dandruff-like flakes on your eyelashes.

If left untreated, patients can develop dysfunction of oil glands (meibomian gland dysfunction or MGD), a leading cause of dry eye disease.

Blepharitis can occur at any age, but the prevalence increases with age.

Using BlephEx® to Treat Blepharitis

Using BlephEx®, our doctors can precisely and safely, clean and exfoliate your eyelids and lashes, which will almost immediately improve your symptoms. More importantly, our doctors can help you avoid the long-term inflammatory damage to your oil glands, preventing chronic dry eye syndrome.

How BlephEx® Works

BlephEx® is a painless in-office procedure performed by our team at Infinity Eye Care.

The BlephEx® handpiece is used to very precisely spin a soft medical grade micro-sponge along the edge of your eyelids and lashes to remove excess bacteria, biofilm and bacterial toxins, the main causes of eyelid symptoms.  The procedure lasts about 6 – 8 minutes. Most patients simply report a tickling sensation. With regular treatments, the eyelids stay clean and symptom-free.

The sooner that BlephEx® is begun as a routine element of eye care, the better the long-term results.

Make an appointment today if you were experiencing discomfort. Our team will provide a comprehensive exam and develop an appropriate treatment plan.
